Benedict will be talking about his piece Yeşil gece müziği as part of the postgraduate composers’ research seminar in the Victoria Rooms on Tuesday 16 February at 4:30pm. He will be talking about the background and compositional process of the piece, which was commissioned by the Hezarfen Ensemble as part of the British Council-funded From Word to Sound project for performance during the Bilkent New Music Days at Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey in May 2015. Benedict will be playing the organ with the Bristol University Symphony Orchestra for their performance of Gustav Holst's The Planets. The concert, which will be conducted by Neal Farwell, will take place in the Auditorium of the Victoria Rooms (University Music Department) at 19:30 on the 6 February. Benedict will once again be joining the University of Bristol Church Choir on their annual summer tour. This year the choir will be singing at Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford, deputising for the cathedral choir by singing for the regular cathedral services whilst the latter is on their summer vacation. Bilkent New Music Days – Concert
Hezarfen Ensemble performers Müge Hendekli (piano) and Amy Salsgiver (percussion), will be giving the première performance of Benedict’s most recent piece Yeşil gece müziği as part of the Bilkent New Music Days festival. This piece was commissioned as part of the British Council sponsored ‘From Word to Sound’ project.
